I AM MY HAIR

my hair has always and will always be the bane of my life. when i was a baby i had what can only be described as a white girl afro. really tight blonde ringlets. they obviously disappeared as it grew longer, thicker and darker. being the shitty teenager i was i never listened to my mum when she said i'd ruin my hair with ridiculous amounts of hair dye and bleach. (i've been blonde, black, various shades of brown and errrr.. pink) mother dearest also said i'd regret it when i thought it'd be a good idea to cut my waist length hair to an ear length bob. obviously now i'm older and indeed somewhat wiser i can vouch that MOTHERS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT.

anyway about three years ago i decided to just stop dying my hair before i ended up bald. i sported a weird ombre when i was growing out a lighter brown for a while but it was pretty painless. ever since my hairdresser made my hair look like this i've realised perhaps my hair is in alright condition now, finally. HURRAH! i've also realised that having super straight sleek shiny hair just doesn't suit me AT ALL. i know it's not to everyones taste but i enjoy big hair and even a bit of frizz.
as for products, erm i rarely use them. i've just started using lee staffords for hair that doesn't grow past a certain length treatment but i haven't used it enough to notice any difference. i only wash my hair once a week so it might take a while! (i know some people might find this gross, but it's what works for me. if i washed it any more i'd spend half my life drying it.) if i do use any products i use moroccanoil and frizz-ease, i find both work amazingly well and since using the moroccanoil i've definitely noticed an improvement in the overall condition of my hair. loves it!

  4. Good hair!

I think mine is quite a similar type... I had natural ringlets as a toddler, which turned into a mega mane as I've grown up. I've *just* started trying to embrace the frizz and stop torturing it with straighteners every day, so I will give those products a go to see if they help! x

  5. i feel your pain on the afro front! my hair is such a nightmare, i have to chemically straighten it every month to get it looking remotely decent. and like you, i only wash it once a week because it takes forever to dry. anyway, yours looks amazing so keep listening to your mum and leave it how it is :) -x-

  6. Your story sounds like mine. All my teenage years whilst messing with bleach and other stuff I had to listen to my mother saying "don't do that, you'll ruin it!" and I hate to admit that she was right too.

I look back at when I was 14, and attempted to dye black dreadlocked streaks into my blonde hair to make it look like Christina Aguilera in the "Beautiful" video and cringe... it turned grey ALL OVER and took months, 3 packs of bleach and a sore scalp to get back to normal. Haha!

Adore your fringe... I have long wavy hair but SO want a cut like yours, need to book myself into a hairdressers a.s.a.p!

  8. Oh god, I hear you on the Mother front. I used to have golden hair right down to my arse, and I got my friend to cut it all off when I was 10. Fast forward 11 years, no lesson learnt and many hair colours later, I was attempting to go from BLACK to blonde for my 21st. My hair was boob length, I used 2x40vol peroxide, tinfoil and a hairdryer and melted my hair to around 4 inches long. Ever since then I've used a salon, ahahaha!

  13. Your hair is just beautiful!
I really need to just leave mine alone, and to be fair, I have (only of recently though)
I had a good trim too, and feel better for it. I want long stunning wavy locks that I don't have to do anything with- but this will never happen.
Part of me really wants it chopped again, I think I'll wait until I lose some face fat, and see how I feel again then x

  17. I don't wash my hair much, only my fringe gets a little dirty so I just put a little dry shampoo on it. I try not to wear make up or use heat on my hair on my days off to give my skin and hair a rest xx
