boudoir prive box.

i wasn't going to write this post mainly because there's going to be millions of them and millions of opinions flying around and also because of the whole "if you haven't got anything nice to say" thing. but.. whatever. if you follow me on twitter you'll probably already know that i'm really disappointed with the boudoir prive box and i've already cancelled my subscription. HERE'S WHY!

it came in a really lovely pink box and was packaged beautifully with ribbon and a hand written note, totally can't fault the service. and this is the contents.. now i don't entirely know what i was expecting, and to be honest i kind of forgot i even ordered it, so i haven't really been following any of their facebook clues or anything like that. i just think for a first box it could have been so much better.

jane iredale purelash extender and conditioner (the tiny thing with the gold lid), two samples of etat libre d'orange perfume, barbor hsr lifting extra firming cream, olavie antioxidant body butter, sachajuan hair repair, bloom green tea & white tea duo

the only decent thing really is the sachajuan hair repair, it's 100ml which retails for £11 anyway, so i'm not too bothered about the rest being a bit rubbish.. other than the fact boudoir prive claim to provide "five to six deluxe-sized samples" in every box.. and i don't know about you but i don't think two perfume samples which i could pick up in boots myself for free are anything special. (and it smells revolting, if anyone was wondering) the purelash extender sounds really interesting to me but i don't see how i'm going to be able to see if i like it or if it even works with the minuscule sample they've provided.

the babor cream although it's packaged in a decent sized box it is actually tiny too- conveniently they haven't said how much product it actually is though. but.. it's not a lot and by no means deluxe-sized. it does retail at £82 for 50ml so it's not really a surprise you don't get a lot. but erm, i think i'm going to give this to my mum anyway since it's an anti wrinkle cream, not really what i need at twenty three.

....and the tea. i literally don't even know what to say about that. when i opened it i was half drunk half hungover and had to question my sanity. did i really just receive tea in a 'beauty box'? REALLY? "keep your concentration levels high and your stress levels low throughout the day with these two delicious teas from blooms tea treatment collection" - COME ON. SERIOUSLY? what a load of rubbish.

but yeah, seriously disappointed with this. really interested in hearing other peoples opinions too, can anyone really be impressed with this?!

btw, i hate tea.

  1. Hey!
I'm really glad you posted this and you were honest. I was waiting to see what other people were saying about this box before i ordered it.
I have already heard a load of bad reviews from this. I also understand your point on the tea! Why send tea in a beauty box?! That's ridulous!

Thanks for your honest opinion i don't think now i will order it. Save my money..

    Holly,xo :)

  5. nice honest review. I'm not much of a beauty blogger so I didn't hear about these. You would have thought they would have made an effort with the first box

  7. I hate tea too so I'm glad I didn't order this! Lovely to see someone being so honest about it, great post x

  8. I'm glad you posted about this - I don't follow a lot of beauty blogs, and was curious how it compared to GlossyBox.

I think it's important to be honest if you don't like a product! :) xxxx

  9. Also, I'm a big tea fan - but putting a bag in and counting it as one of the items seems like a bit of a cop out.

For example: I think it's cute when Ebayers and Etsy sellers put sweeties in parcels, but I wouldn't want to be charged an extra quid or two for the sake of a few chews.

  10. I haven't seen a review of this yet so congrats for being my first ;)

Doesn't sound the best... I think these things are bound to be disappointing. Big brands and make-up aren't that achieveable. I mean, you're better off buying magazines for the freebies!!!

  11. I cancelled my subscription as well! Really disappointing especially for the first box.

  12. How disappointing! I'm kind of glad I didn't order one, not sure Tea is a 'beauty' item.

  13. I was so excited to receive my box today & I don't really know much about deluxe beauty stuff, but I'm still not sure what to make of it.

I HATE tea too, with a passion & it seems like a cop out, really.

I cancelled my subscription so I hope next month isn't amazing 'cos I'll be pretty pissed!

  14. It just looks so... boring.
Even if you do like tea - it's just plain weird!

  15. Not had mine yet, was wondering when it was being sent out.
As for the whole tea thing - I can't stand tea?!
Hmm may keep it one more month and see but that will be it.
Wonder if the boxes differ at all? Seeing as it was meant to be a VIP box and sold out etc you would expect a 'WOW' factor.
OH well, not really looking forward to mine getting here now LOL! Good honest review, Mel xxxx

  16. Thanks for this review, I was seriously consider trying these but now I won't. I can't believe they would put tea in as one of the items. Bit of a cop out if you ask me!
I'm so glad you were honest with this, really refreshing when some bloggers would have raved about it just because.

  17. People are going mad for these beauty boxes and I just can't be arsed with them. Like you say, you can get perfume samples at Boots. Even the makeup counters like Estee Lauder etc will give out samples if you ask nicely.

So this just all seems a tad pointless!

    P.S. I love tea but really...! x

  18. I have just ordered my first beauty box (its an australian one) and am really excited to receive it. I hope i have more luck than you have had with this one, tea seriously?

  19. So glad i didn't sign up for this. Looks blooming worse than the glossybox but least with them you get some well known makes.

Thanks for posting this hun :)

  20. hahaha I couldn't help but laugh at the 'btw I hate tea' bit. I can't belive they sent you freaking tea bags :') xx

  21. I'm really impressed with the packaging, does that count? Haha no but seriously, overall, I'm actually pretty satisfied with the box. It's my first beauty box, so I've nothing to compare it to, but like you said, that Sachajuan pretty much made it worth my money.

The tea was ridiculous, but I'm not as furious as I should be only because they gave 8 samples this time. But if they pull this stunt (beauty starts from within nonsense) again in future boxes, I'd be pretty mad.

It's not WOW-amazing, but I'm still thinking about whether to cancel cos I'm quite happy with some of the products tbh

    I made a blog post, too :)

  22. Haha, great review! I'm glad you posted it as I haven't seen any others yet, and I do love an honest review.
Hmm, does look a bit disappointing to be honest. Maybe they were going for the opposite effect to Glossybox (amazing first box, anticlimax after that)... So maybe the second box will be awesome. I've never subscribed to any of these sample services yet, but the Feel Unique one might tempt me... http://bit.ly/nPcq2G.
Glad you got one thing you liked though! Oh, and I hate tea too! Glad I'm not alone. Feel like the freak of my social group. xx

  23. The reason they put the tea in the box was they are all for working on beauty from the inside out. They mentioned it before either on Facebook or there website. I think it's a good idea as it is true. What we consume can effect our appearance. If you don't like tea then fair enough, but it does make sense if you think about it :)

  24. oh wow, I'm glad I didn't sign up, what a disappointment!! I couldn't stand the possibility of TWO so never bothered haha. I do love the box though, with my surname being Barton I kinda want it :|
